The Meteorology and Climate of Tropical Africa

Marcel Leroux

The Meteorology and Climate of Tropical Africa In 1983 Marcel Leroux published his two-volume work, Le Climat de l’Afrique Tropicale, under the financial sponsorship of the World Meteorological Organisation. Now he has completely rewritten and updated the book to present the state-of-the-art research into the weather and climate of tropical Africa.

Available in English for the first time, this important book gives detailed coverage of fundamental issues concerning African meteorology, climatology, tropical circulation, rainfall, drought and climate change. The content ranges through chorological and aerological factors to the dynamics of circulation (providing an entirely new approach) and the climates of tropical Africa. The final section discusses the recent climate changes, which are of particular concern to the Subsaharan regions.

Of especial interest is the accompanying CD which features 350 maps relating to various factors of meteorology and climate and their effects on the African continent.
